I offer consults on a number of topics related to giving birth (if you don't see your concern listed here please let me know and I'll let you know if I can help you or refer you to someone who can. To schedule, scroll down to the bottom to find my "contact me" form)
Induction consult
You’ve recently learned that you may need an induction of labor.
Maybe this is your first baby, maybe you’ve had other babies before.
You have questions, or maybe you feel you should be asking questions, but don’t know what questions to ask.
You’ve heard that there are options/lots of ways an induction might happen, or maybe you’ve heard “this is how we do it.”
In this consult I help you to identify how you can have a positive experience with your birth and your postpartum time when you have an induction planned.
scheduled c-section consult
You've recently learned that you may need a c-section. Maybe your baby is breech or maybe a medical condition is driving this plan.
You want to learn about your options and talk through your feelings.
You have a limited amount of time at your prenatal visits with your OB or midwife and you want to ask questions that will give you the most payoff.
You have a limited amount of time left in your pregnancy and you want to make sure you're doing what you can to prepare for a positive postpartum experience.
twins/multiples consult
You've recently learned that you're expecting twins or multiples!
You're wondering about preterm birth, complications.
What's in your control, what choices do you have, how can you write a birth plan
birth plan consultation
How to decide what's important to you on your birth plan draft and how to discuss with your doctor or midwife.
What your options are if you're dismissed (at a prenatal visit).
How to plan, write, and present your birth plan to maximize your chances of success.
How to present your birth plan at your prenatal visits and at the hospital when you're in labor.
What to do if you're ignored or dismissed during your labor/birth.
If you're looking for a consultation on another specific concern (a complication you experienced at a previous birth, choosing a new care provider, moving, giving birth at military hospital, deciding where to give birth), please let me know and I'll let you know if this is an area I can help you with, or I can refer you to someone who can help you.
